DataLeash is a utility app that monitors mobile data usage and alerts users when they open bandwidth-heavy applications while connected to mobile data instead of Wi-Fi. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

DataLeash does not collect, process, store, or transmit any of the following:

Personal identification information
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Location data
Usage statistics or analytics
Network traffic content
Any information transmitted to external servers

3. Local Data Storage

The only data stored is locally on your device using Android's SharedPreferences (monitored app list, preferences, settings). This data never leaves your device.

4. Permissions and Their Purpose

4.1 PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS

Purpose: To detect foreground application.

Usage: Checks foreground app to determine if it matches monitored apps. Processed locally, not stored or transmitted.

4.2 SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW

Purpose: To display alert notifications on top of other apps.

Usage: Displays overlay alert when monitored app opens on mobile data. Shown only when necessary, dismissible immediately.

4.3 ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE

Purpose: To detect Wi-Fi vs mobile data connection.

Usage: Monitors network type to determine when to show alerts. Processed locally, not stored or shared.

4.4 FOREGROUND_SERVICE

Purpose: To run continuous background monitoring.

Usage: Runs as foreground service with persistent notification as required by Android.

4.5 RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED

Purpose: To restart monitoring after device reboot.

Usage: Resumes monitoring automatically after device restart.

4.6 POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+)

Purpose: To display required foreground service notification.

Usage: Shows persistent notification indicating active monitoring.

5. Data Safety

Since DataLeash does not collect or transmit any data, there are no data security risks. All processing occurs locally on your device.

6. Third-Party Services

DataLeash does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics, advertising networks, or data collection SDKs.

7. Children's Privacy

DataLeash is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

You have full control over the app:

Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
Revoke permissions through device Settings
Disable monitoring through the app interface
